GitHub Actions for Android

Tutorial to build Android app using GitHub Actions as CI. To learn more about GitHub Actions, read the Github documentation.

GitHub Actions is going to be trigger on every PR, and build the Android app by running Gradle tasks $./gradlew build

  1. Got to your repo and select Actions. Click Set up this workflow button for Android CI.

2. GitHub automatically generates yaml file to build android app APK. It runs Gradle task ./gradlew build. Click button Start commit.

3. Now your repo has a root yaml file that configures the GitHub Actions, to the GitHub Action open a PR and see how the Action gets trigger.

IMHO: GitHub Actions it’s a great feature! Thanks Github! I’m a CI/CD fan, and I think GitHub Actions is a great solution. Now developers can create code and see there CI in one place (GitHub repo dashboard), no need to manage another CI tool dashboard, everything in one place.

Thanks for spending your time reading it and let me know if I’m wrong somewhere or if there’s something that could do differently or better. I’m open to your feedback 🙌🏻
